Just Be – an exciting journey! 14 years ago, a girl from Switzerland came to New Zealand to milk cows and experience the Kiwi way of life for the first time. My passion for nature, food and hospitality brought me back to this beautiful country a few years later. In the Marlborough Sounds I found a place where my soul wanted to stay forever. A Kiwi family and their business taught me more valuable skills than I could learn in 2 years of hospitality management school. Hopewell Lodge – a heart-warming and professional hospitality at its highest level. Hosting people with an open heart and being creative with delicious food has been a strong foundation for my career in New Zealand since.
After 3 more years of great work experience at Raetihi Lodge and Morri Street Cafe, it was time to start my own business. Ellie the cute little 1975 retro caravan rolled into my life in November 2017. It was love at first sight. The adventure could begin!
In January 2018 Just Be Food & Drinks was ready to open at our first location in the Brook. Serving Havana coffee, homemade baking and ice cream to the rapidly growing Nelson mountain biker scene.
The amazing support from so many encouraging and inspiring people here in Nelson gave me the strength to get through the challenging first year of my business. Kaikoura Cheese became an important addition to work experience. Festivals, Markets and Food Shows all over the country and so much delicious cheese!
The outstanding quality of the local food and continuous inspiration by people who share the same passion, is what drives me to continue growing the business. Here’s to new adventures!
